Lent is coming!

Lent is in 2 days...
Have you guys chosen what you will give up?
I am giving up Facebook....
I love Facebook to catch up with friends and post pictures...
Sucks to be any of my friends who do not follow my blog to get their baby updates...
Lucky you all...because I will be updating my blog hopefully a lot more during Lent!

In addition to Facebook I have chosen today to give up sweets...
Which will include my beloved ice cream and Frappes....
Pretty much anything that has sugar
This one may kill me...haha
But it will be for the best because sweets is my one weakness with the new eating style we have...
Plus it will help to get me back into shape after Jude!:)
And let's face it...what Jesus went through is a LOT more than a withdrawal of sweets!

*I might go a little insane when the neighbor girl drops off my girl scout cookies*
Lent is not only about giving up things but also you can add things...
For example I am adding to make sure I read to the boys once a day {outside of bible stories/prayers}
Luke loves "Moo, Baa, La La La!"
I am also adding to tell Jordan one thing special about him each day...
Whether it be "hey you did a great job with the boys!" or "You are the sexiest man alive!"
I usually try to do that anyways but sometimes I forget to tell him just how thankful I am!

Jordan is giving up his typical 2 big meal schedule and only eating 1 meal a day....

If you are struggling...
Here are some ideas...
PS We have indulged in a lot of snacks and goodies the
past few days that we usually don't to lead up to Ash Wednesday!
We hit the bakery this morning and got some goods...
Enter a new treat: PACZKI'S!
I have never ever had these!!!
They are amazing!!! We got lots of fun flavors, my favorite was Peanut Butter!
I had NO IDEA how to pronounce them...I thought "Pack-zee"
It's more like "Punch-Key"
This is called a Devil Dog...
This was so SWEET...it is what really made me seal the deal on no sweets for 40 days...
{my stomach is killing me from these treats}

Hope you all enjoy FAT TUESDAY tomorrow!
What will you be giving up for Lent!?

  1. Good for you for giving up FB - very challenging! Thank you for the link to creative ideas for Lent... the one idea in there about giving up the snooze button led me to mine: To get up an hour earlier every weekday in order to less frantically get all three of us out the door in the morning! It's a small sacrifice that can only benefit our family by starting our days more peacefully together and less rushed. :)

  2. FB! SOOOO challenging...but when I think of what Jesus gave up for us, I commend you for picking something so difficult.

I've decided to give up POP (soda as you Amuuurricans would call it). I hope to give it up permanently actually.

“Usually during Lent, on top of giving up something we love but don’t need, we say that any money that is found in the laundry, couches, and anywhere else was God’s money and we gave it to the poor. I remember one of the first years we did this, I found a $20 bill in a parking lot.” – Alyssa

I love this idea and I'm going to do it too.

  3. Gotta get me some Devil Dog! I am giving up Starbucks, I almost started crying. At least I can have my Starbucks and Paczki today, I will treasure the memories. Happy Fat Tuesday!!

  4. I love those girl scout cookies but I've been trying to break away from corporations who's politics I don't like, and girl scouts ended up on there with their affiliation with planned parenthood =/
