Guest Post {Jamie} On: Being a SAHM!

I am a stay at home mom. The title "stay at home mom" doesn't make you think anything special, other than a woman that wipes snotty noses and changes diapers, but to ME, it means something so much more.

Actually first I think I should take one step back and introduce myself. My name’s Jamie I blog over at Life Illustrated . Prior to becoming a slave stay at home mom I worked for "corporate America", went on client lunches, wore adorable outfits, acted professional on calls and could call it a day a 5pm. That life ended June 3rd when I traded in dress pants and 4inch heals for yoga pants, tennis shoes and messy pony tails. And I wouldn’t change it for the world.

Other than educating my daughter during the day on a daily basis I have to plan for and budget the monthly expenses of life, run errands including grocery shopping and appointments, plan and cook nutritious meals, do dishes, laundry, all while trying to keep the house clean. Being a stay at home mom today is hard, it's a 24/7 job with no pay and few benefits other than the kisses and hugs from McKenzie and to know that she is learning and growing in this crucial time of her life, all from me. So for all you moms out there that think you can't possibly stay home and enjoy this time with your kids, I 'm here to tell you that it is possible, with very little energy and LOT’S of patience.

Ok, enough of me going on and on about a SAHM.
Here are a few things people have said to me that makes me want to slap them giggle.

When she’s in school are you going to get a real job?
Really? Are you REALLY going to ask me that? SMH and I don’t answer.

Must be nice, you have the life. It's like Friday to you every day.
{Insert gagging, and my fakest voice possible} yes,yes you are right. I DO.

Wow, she doesn’t sit still and you like staying at home?
Um. No she does not sit you remember having an almost 2 year old?
Oh wait you don't have any kids? Oh Ok...I'll leave it at that.
Has she always talked this much?
Yes, this is why I call her motor mouth {that was my nickname too as a child} you got a problem?
Plug your ears if you’re sick of it.
Your husband must make a good living for you to stay at home?
geez why don’t you just mind your own business…just MAYBE we are good with our money.
Just maybe though

So all you mommy’s out there feel good, because being a SAHM is the best job in the world and I’ve said it a million times I would not change it for the world.

Now if you would come on over to MY BLOG take a look and stay awhile, follow my daily life as a SAHM.

  1. I LOVE this post Jamie! Being a stay at home mom is one of the best and hardest things ever!

Ps to Allie. I hope you and the kiddos are having a great time getting to know baby Jude. :-)

  2. Great post!!!! I completely agree- people are quick to judge and not so quick to just compliment and move on!

  3. The judging goes the other way you know. I just had a Mom tell me I am basically a crap Mom because I don't work. I think it is best to not judge either...I would love to be a SAHM but can' don't judge me and I won't judge you.
